Izkämpel was a witch of ancient times, renowned for her power. Many people sought her services for such matters as love, harvests, divination, protection and good fortune. She also healed with the energy of her hands and stones, and offered balms and brews. Her favorite method was to make dolls in the likeness of her patients. Whenever a letter arrived requesting a treatment with a gift as compensation, she would get out the right doll and get to work.
One day, a client asked for her help in keeping away an old love whose intrusive presence worried him. Izkämpel, already tired, didn't immediately notice the inconsistencies in his story and agreed to give him invisibility protection so that he could go far away in peace. The following bônen, she received a visit from a panicked woman who explained that her abusive ex-partner had taken all her belongings and their children, and that she couldn't find them anywhere.
Relizing that she had been tricked, the witch promised the women everything would be returned to her and that she would personally deal with the matter. She made nine dolls and breathed life into them to track down the liar. Day and night, the dolls traveled for miles until they found him in an isolated shack.
Two days later, the children and their belongings were returned to the desperate mother. She later learned from local residents that a dismembered corpse had been hung from a tree near the witch's house. A sign had been planted just below it, with “liar” written on the wood. The warning deterred even the most foolhardy mortals from trying to trick the woman again. From then on, the Imelians got into the habit of saying "If you trick anyone, the Izkämpel dolls will come and get you".
