No one really knows whether he was a dragon or a mage. Still, one day, he settled on the mountain to bask in the molten rock, far from a village. He gave off so much heat that he eventually burned everything around him. The peasants, eager to save their land, spoke with him.
“If we offer you what we hold most dear, will you leave?”
Although surprised and doubtful, the dragon's greed led him to accept. A few days later, the peasants returned with their children. The dragon took a long look at them before turning to the parents.
“Is this really your dearest possession?”
Confused and unsure of what to do, the adults nodded. The dragon's face turned hard and cold, flames licking at his body with rage.
“Nonsense. If they were your most precious possession, you would never have brought them to me.”He burned the parents and adopted the children to teach them, vowing never to abandon them. Thus were born the dragon priests.
